A Strange Colour of Dream

Synopsis

Ertil, my grandfather, a retired architect, lives in Istanbul where he continues to dream of the modernization of Turkey. Every day, he works on his imaginary 3D projects, while the city around him transforms at breakneck speed. For ten years, I have been filming his struggle to save his building from demolition. As new buildings arise, the gap between his imagination and reality widens, reflecting the tensions between memory, forgetting, dreaming and destruction.

Directors' Biography

Yasemin Akinci was born in 1987 in Istanbul, Turkey. She is an editor and director, known for Feu rouge - C'est bien la France (2014), A Strange Colour of Dream (2024) and Une autre montagne (2017).
