Blue, Revolution and VHS Tapes

Synopsis

A war pilot, revolutionary, and cinephile Mekin Gönenç left the army to become a businessman, while secretly joining the resistance against Turkey’s 1970s military regime. Later, he devoted his life to cinema, leaving behind thousands of VHS tapes and hand-made film journals. Through archives, a portrait of a 20th-century romantic emerges.

Directors' Biography

Serdar Kökçeoğlu considers himself a storyteller of music. He lectures at universities on documentary and sound design, and every summer, he co-directs a summer school dedicated to experimental film. In 2025, he curated the Mimaroğlu Remix Project.
