In summer 1989, thousands gathered in North Korea for a student festival promoting peace, friendship, and anti-imperialism. Amid Cold War tensions, it became a rare space where youth from around the world exchanged cultures and debated global issues of nuclear disarmament, rights, and justice just as a historic era neared its end.
Andra MacMasters is a Romanian producer and archive researcher. Founder of Conset Film, she has worked with filmmakers from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Serbia, and India. She created cineama.ro, the first archive of cine-amateurism in socialist Romania. Bright Future is her debut film.
