Friends on the Outside

Synopsis

Friends on the Outside tells the story of an incarcerated man called Jamie who finds joy and comfort inside by foraging for weeds and caring for birds. It questions why the UK prison system is currently in its biggest expansion in more than a century, exposing naturalising language
around this expansion.

Directors' Biography

Annabel is an Edinburgh-based filmmaker inspired by analog, DIY techniques and the natural world. She holds an MA in ethnographic and documentary filmmaking and has worked as a freelance researcher, editor, and videographer. Her latest short was created through Bridging the Gap by the SDI.
