Synopsis

A young man sits in the car with his girlfriend. Two policemen in an unmarked car pull up to command a routine identity check. They invite him out and proceed methodically to a pat-down, as he stands in front of the car, under the dismayed eyes of his girlfriend.

Directors' Biography

Mohamed Bourouissa (b. 1978, Blida) lives and works in France. His work has been shown at major venues including Palais de Tokyo and Centre Pompidou. He won the Deutsche Börse Prize (2020) and the Paris Photo–Aperture Prize (2022). Généalogie de la violence is his first fiction film.
