After six decades living in Germany, elderly jazz-pianist Stevan returns home to Serbia. Concluding a lengthy legal process, the government confirms that – via post-socialist restitution – he can inherit the neglected mansion previously bequeathed to him by his parents. A series of encounters and reunions then opens an unexpected new chapter in Stevan’s life…
Želimir Žilnik (b. 1942, Novi Sad) is a prolific Serbian filmmaker with over 50 films shown at major festivals like Berlin, Toronto, and Rotterdam. Known for his socially engaged cinema, he has faced censorship for critiquing authority, while highlighting the lives of ordinary people.
