Glimpse

Synopsis

Artur Żmijewski’s Glimpse, created for documenta 14, explores the refugee crisis and political failure to respond. Shot in silent black-and-white 16mm, the film presents a dystopian view of migration and violence, filmed in Berlin’s Tempelhof, Calais before its clearance, and under Paris Métro arches.

Directors' Biography

Artur Żmijewski (b. 1966, Warsaw) is a Polish visual artist, filmmaker, and photographer. He studied at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts (1990–1995) and is known for his video works and photo exhibitions shown internationally. Since 2006, he has been the artistic editor of Krytyka Polityczna.
