Synopsis

Two Times in One Space by Ivan Ladislav Galeta is an experimental black-and-white film based on Nikola Stojanović’s 1968 single-shot In the Kitchen. In 1984, Galeta merged two delayed projections into one, creating a staggered visual narrative. The film contrasts family life with a balcony love scene, exploring spatial perception, cinematic illusion, and the potential of analog techniques to alter reality. Ivan Ladislav Galeta, from Zagreb, was a neo-Platonist of European experimental cinema. Behind the abstract, frame-by-frame structure of his films lies a chamber of wonders—formalist explorations rooted in the medium’s prehistory, revealing symbolic spaces and hermetic parallel universes.
