"Car Wash" explores the lives of car wash workers in Los Angeles, many of whom are undocumented immigrants from Central America. The film uses a super8 film aesthetic and offers a commentary on the relationship between class, place, and work in a city defined by both cars and immigrant labor.
Brett Story is a writer and documentary filmmaker based in Toronto and New York. Her award-winning film The Prison in Twelve Landscapes (2016) screened internationally. She holds a PhD in geography, is a Guggenheim Fellow, and teaches Image Arts at Ryerson University.
